Turkish company develops large energy project in Turkmenistan

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov and Chairman of the Board of directors of the Çalık Holding Ahmet Calik discussed the development priorities of the energy sector during the conference , the Turkmen government said on Wednesday.

Turkish businessman announced proposals to ensure a stable and reliable power supply of the Turkmen capital and modernization of power system as a whole.

"Implementation of this ambitious project, which for decades guarantees a reliable and uninterrupted supply of electricity to the rapidly developing capital provided for years and will be implemented in three phases," said in a statement.

Amount 60 sub-stations planned for construction, will be connected to a common system of supply during the commissioning.

Ashgabat will construct a new dispatching center, which will start work at the first stage of the project, and will manage the power system of the capital in full at the second phase.

In particular, the project stipulates that during the renovation of existing and construction of new power plants, they will be equipped with advanced equipment and technologies from such vendors as company Schneider Electric, Siemens, General Electric, ABB, etc., which will supply the equipment and carry out commissioning inclunding train appropriate staff.

The President familiarized with the project in detail and said that its implementation should ensure the stability of energy supply, regardless of weather conditions.

According to Berdymuhamedov, the creation of a modern developed power network is an essential factor in the successful development of the entire national economic complex.

While implementing these projects with joint participation of leading international companies, the harmonious functioning of the entire social infrastructure should be taken into account, and installation of appropriate communication of electricity, gas and water supply must be carried out in coordination with the work, driven by companies dealing with construction of bridges, sewage systems in the capital, Berdymuhamedov said.

The Turkmen leader as well noted that it will be useful to use the tunnels near Ashgabat constructed by Ukrainian company Interbudmontazh in the course of cabling

In turn, Calik, has assured that the company will comply fully with amount instructions and recommendations for the implementation of the considered energy projects.

The mutual trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Turkey has increased by 25 % in 2011 compared to 2011. Turkmenistan exports, mainly textile products, energy, chemical and agricultural industries.

The metal and its products, household goods, hardware, building materials, electrical, chemical and light industry, food, vehicles, and medicines comes from Turkey.
