Media: Turkish Anadolu aims at world top 5 press agencies

Turkey's development and expansion goals for 2023 - for the 100th anniversary of the republic founded by Mustafa Kemal Ataturk - include making the country's main press agency, Anadolu, one of the five most important in the world. This statement was made today by Anadolu managing director Kemal Ozturk.

The development plan for the Turkish public agency includes opening several new offices in countries with which Turkey has strong economic and political ties. Yesterday the announcement was made that a new office will be opened in Tunis, today Cairo was added as location for another Anadolu seat. The Turkish government also focuses on television: public network TRT has already launched a channel in Arabic and yesterday a new channel started broadcasting in Sorani, the language spoken in Iraqi Kurdistan. Turkey is strengthening its economic and political ties with this region.
