Dakar city: Senegal's Parliament has passed an anti-tobacco bill,

Senegal's Parliament has passed an anti-tobacco bill, which bans the use of tobacco in the country's “religious cities” and establishes 'smoking rooms' to strengthen the protection against passive tobacco addiction.

The new bill, under which only those who are 18 years and above can have access to the smoking rooms, was passed on Friday.

It described smoking room as a 'closed and isolated room reserved exclusively for the consumption of tobacco and in which no service is offered'.

The bill as well bans any interference of the tobacco industry in the country’s national health policies to protect the policies from any influence of the tobacco industry.

It strengthens the warning labels on tobacco packages and on tobacco products.
