  • Euro-Arab Foundation for higher education in the southern Spanish city of Grenade

    EUROPEAN UNION, 2014/03/22 Libyan artist, Dr. Maatouk Abou Rawi, is holding an exhibition at the seat of the Euro-Arab Foundation for higher education in the southern Spanish city of Grenade on the theme, “Immortalizing the Arab spring victims”. The artist says that the exhibition, which 'immortalises the Arab revolutions, thirsting for democracy, freedom and social justice', completes the initial exhibition hosted by the same foundation in 2012, which was dedicated to the 'Illegal migrants having the dream to entering Europe'.
  • 30th anniversary of Wiqaw Izz's /Eritrea

    ERITREA, 2014/03/19 Participants of the 30th anniversary of Wiqaw Izz's demise could arrive from the port city of Massawa to Mahmime in a short time through the renovated dirt road by Red Sea Construction Company. Mr. Musie Tesfatsion, chief of the project, indicated that the task which has been launched before 6 months involved mobilization of heavy machineries and various trucks, and thus giving rise to its quick finalization. It used to take vehicles 6 hours to arrive at the historical site of Mahmimet from the port city, the distance of which has currently dropped by half, he added.
  • Seminar on agriculture in Cote d’Ivoire

    CôTE D'IVOIRE, 2014/03/18 The Ministry of Agriculture’s annual seminar opened on Monday in Grand-Bassam (15 km south-east of Abidjan) to assess the agricultural activities during 2013 and draw a roadmap for the current year,   quoting the ministry. Between Monday and Tuesday, experts from the agricultural sector will take stock of last year’s agricultural policy in Cà´te d’Ivoire in order to draw lessons for 2014. According to the Ivorian authorities, the country’s rapid economic transformation should necessarily pass through a strong agricultural increase and an development of the living conditions of rural populations, with a view to reaching emerging country” status.
  • Mary Catherine Nkosi has been appointed by the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (Comesa)

    MALAWI, 2014/03/10 A Malawian lady Mary Catherine Nkosi has been appointed by the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (Comesa) into its four member committee of Elders, it has been announced. News about the appointment of Nkosi who retired as Deputy Governor at Malawi’s Central Bank last year was made public by the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs George Nkondiwa, who indicated that the appointment is as well an honour to Malawi.
  • Malaysian Prime Minister, Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak

    MAURITIUS, 2014/03/10 The Malaysian Prime Minister, Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak, will be the Chief Guest of honour on the occasion of the Mauritian 46th National Day Celebrations on Wednesday. In a communiqué issued here, the Mauritian government said the Malaysian Prime Minister will lead a delegation of 75 people that will include the Malaysian International Trade and Industry Minister and 30 businessmen. During his visit, scheduled for 11-13 March, Tun Abdul Razak will call on the President of Mauritius, Rajkeswur Purryag.
  • Chadian president Idriss Déby and Beninese president Boni Yayi,

    BENIN, 2014/03/09 Chadian president Idriss Déby and Beninese president Boni Yayi, arrived on Thursday in Impfondo in northern Congo to attend the 3rd international Forum of Indigenous Peoples of Central Africa (FIPAC). The two presidents were welcomed at Impfondo airport by their Congolese counterpart, Denis Sassou Nguesso. President Déby is the current chairman of the Economic Community of Central African States (CEEAC). The session under the theme, “Indigenous peoples, traditional know-how and green economy”, will see the inauguration and official handing over of FIPAC to CEEAC.

    RWANDA, 2014/03/09 The Rwandan capital, Kigali, will on 12 March host the initial Pan-African forum on sharing better practices in science, technology and innovation in higher education. The forum will bring together political decision-makers in the domain, inclunding operators from the private sector on the theme, 'Higher education of science, technology and innovation: Speeding Africa’s goals', official sources told PANA on Thursday in Kigali. The forum, to be held under the aegis of the World Bank, will enable participants to discuss the challenges facing several African nations in the implementation of the critical mass of competences in the domain of science, technology and innovation, particularly in universities and higher education institutions.

    ITALY, 2014/03/05 The 2nd international conference to support Libya due on Thursday in Rome, Italy, is meant to mobilise international community in favour of Tripoli at this crucial phase of the country, a senior foreign ministry official said on Monday. Deputy Minister in charge of political affairs at the Foreign Affairs Ministry, Ms Wafa Aboukaikis, said the conference would help to build a modern, efficient and sovereign Libya, based on the principles on law and human rights.

  • French President Francois Hollande goes to CAR Friday

    FRANCE, 2014/03/01 Paris, France - French President Francois Hollande, will visit Bangui, capital of the Central African Republic (CAR), Friday, where he’ll meet a military contingency of his country that is deployed on the field. Hollande will as well meet CAR’s acting president, Mrs Catherine Samba-Panza, inclunding religious authorities in the country.
