    EGYPT, 2014/10/31 Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab visited the embassy of Equatorial Guinea to take part in celebrations marking the Equatorial Guinea's 46th national day. The premier's visit came at an invitation by Equatorial Guinea's ambassador in Cairo during a conference on Saturday.
  • Initiative for Global Development

    UNITED STATES, 2014/10/19 The Initiative for World Improvment(IGD), a nonprofit organization based in Washington, D.C., will convene its Frontier 100 Forum in New York City on October 21st-22nd, 2014. The two-day invitation-only event, Africa: Innovative Investing in Emerging Markets, will convene corporate leaders from around the world to discuss opportunities and address challenges to investment in Africa. Each year, IGD hosts two forums, one preceding the World Economic Forum in Africa and one in New York City. The 2014 Africa Frontier 100 was held in Abuja, in recognition of Nigeria realigning its economy to become the number one economy on the continent. Participants included the Nigerian Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment and other business executives from Africa, inclunding the CEOs of Africa Finance Corporation and Computer Warehouse Group, and senior executive representatives from PwC and Accenture, part a lot of others.

    EGYPT, 2014/10/09 Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab has paid a visit on Tuesday 7/10/2014 to Ismailia to follow up the ongoing work at the new Suez Canal project and congratulated the workers on the occasion of Eid al-Adha. Upon his arrival, Mahlab held a conference with Suez Canal Authority Chief Mohab Mamish and a number of officials, inclunding Ismailia Governor Ahmed el-Qassas, Chief of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority Major General Emad el-Alfy and Chief of Staff of the Engineering Authority Kamel el-Wazir, to get acquainted with the new developments in the project and the work plan scheduled to be implemented during the coming period.

    TUNISIA, 2014/10/09 United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is expected Friday in Tunis, Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General Stéphane Dujarric said, Wednesday. Mr. Ban will be in Tunisia "to express the support of the international community and the UN to Tunisia's transition process," Dujarric told the media. Ban Ki-moon is to meet with President Moncef Marzouki, Prime Minister Mehdi Jomaa and Foreign Minister Mongi Hamdi.

    RWANDA, 2014/09/19 Africa is open for business. This was the unanimous message from business and government leaders attending the World Export Development Forum (WEDF), in Kigali, Rwanda. The flagship event of the International Trade Centre (ITC), which was held in Africa for the initial time, demonstrated that the continent is committed to trade-led development and places the rights of people - particularly women - at the heart of its next. Speaking at the closing session of WEDF, ITC Executive Director Arancha González said that the three-day conference reflected the reality of world trade. "We have seen the dynamism and synergies of South-South partners at this WEDF, inclunding from China, India, Brazil and Turkey who have been here to talk business and do business with Africa. This reflects the reality of trade today. South-South trade represents a rapidly growing share of world trade," she said.

  • UNWTO/ICAO Ministerial Conference on Tourism and Air Transport in Africa is Postponed

    AFRICA, 2014/09/13 A communique issued jointly by Marcia Favilla, the UNWTO Executive Director, Operational Programs and Institutional Relations, and Boubacar Djibo, the ICAO Director Air Transport Bureau, has confirmed that the historic UNWTO/ICAO conference for Tourism and for Transport Ministers that was to be held in the Seychelles from October 13-15, 2014 has been postponed. The communique spells out as follows: "On behalf of the Government of Seychelles, the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO),and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), we would like to inform you that the UNWTO/ICAO Ministerial Conference on Tourism and Air Transport in Africa, planned to be held in Seychelles, from 13 to 15 October 2014, has presently been rescheduled to 22·24 April 2015, in the framework of the Regional Commission for Africa, the annual ministerial conference of UNWTO African Member States."
