  • Norwegian company, Furgo, to do a 3D seismic survey

    MAURITANIA, 2012/12/08 In honoring its initial three-year work commitment with Mauritania concerning the Block C19 which is offshore, Chariot oil and gas has handed out a contract to a Norwegian company, Furgo, to do a 3D seismic survey in the area. In a released statement from Chariot, Furgo will be surveying depths ranging from 30 meters up to 2000 meters and is expected to be concluded in about 90 days from the day the exercise begins. The surveying program is as well aimed at identifying possible targets for next exploration.
  • Egypt issues gasoil importation tenders

    EGYPT, 2012/12/08 The Egyptian national oil firm has issued a tender to purchase around 500,000 tons of gasoil for delivery into Mediterranean ports between January and March next year according to a tender document. The tender is for 15 cargoes to be delivered in Alexandria, Egypt’s second largest city and El Dekheila. Bidding ends on the 18th of this month.

  • Sudan: Fuel Prices Increase in West and South Darfur

    AFRICA, 2012/11/27 Fuel prices have gone up in the states of West and South Darfur, causing a transport crisis and scarcity of electricity and water, Radio Dabanga learned on Sunday November 25. National officials attribute the crisis of rising prices to the delay in arrival of the trade convoy. The price of gasoline has gone up from 22 to 40 Sudanese Pounds (SDG), increasing the price of a barrel of gasoline from 800 SDG to 1000 SDG.

    ZIMBABWE, 2012/11/06 THE Tobacco Sales Floor (TSF) once again hosted the TSF Tobacco Grower of the Year competition with Oils Essen, which was among the winners last year, walking away with the top prize. Oils Essen, a company in Mashonaland East, sold at least 114 900 kilogrammes of tobacco at an average price of US$3,53 per kg, earning US$405 618. With a farm size of 200 hectares, Oils Essen had 40 hectares of tobacco with an average yield of 2 873 kg per hectare. The company received a tractor.
  • Zambia: Ndola Energy Company Starts Heavy Oil Pipeline Construction 2012-11-02

    ZAMBIA, 2012/11/02 NDOLA Energy Company has started building a high pressure, 286-metre Heavy Fuel Oil (HFO) pipeline that will transport the US$60 million electricity plant's feedstock from Indeni Petroleum Refinery to its premises.Ndola Energy Company project controller Frank Ndubi said the company was using HFO to produce 50 megawatts of electricity at the plant using left-over oil after Indeni refines crude oil into various petroleum products.Mr Ndubi said the company was the pioneer in the use of HFO to power generators producing electricity.
