  • The AEC regime would integrate all ten country members of Southeast Asian politics and economy

    BRUNEI , 2015/09/30 Welcoming the commencement of regional integrated economy society of ASEAN Economic Community ( AEC) regime slated for later this year, an initiative to foster production capacity cooperation between ASEAN and China was sought to further expand economy and trade ties between the two economies. The thought to further explore the cooperation was highlighted in a high level forum discussing next relations of AEC and China in production capacity cooperation held here on Friday, attended by senior figures and stakeholders of the two economies.
  • Savannakhet Province as Trade and Services Center

    LAOS, 2015/02/22 Savannakhet Province in Lao PDR is a thriving hub of trade and services in the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS). The province is located along the East-West Corridor (EWC) linking Thailand, Lao PDR, and Vietnam (Road No.9). It is also along the North-South axis (Road No.13) that runs through Lao PDR, leading north into China and South into Cambodia. Road and bridge construction will further develop Savannakhet as a trade and services zone. Road No.9 is being improved thank to international assistance from Japan. In 2004, this road has shortened the transport time between Savannakhet and central Vietnam. Savannakhet itself will also develop multiple routes from Thailand to north/central Vietnam. This will bring about an expansion of markets. Direct access to Thailand across the new Mekong River Bridge, which is currently under construction, will create further business opportunities for all the economic sectors in Savannakhet.
  • Laos president to visit Cambodia next week

    CAMBODIA, 2015/02/21 Laos President Choummaly Sayasone will pay a national visit to Cambodia on Feb. 26 and 27 to further promote bilateral ties and cooperation, a news statement from the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on said on Friday. The visit comes at the invitation of Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni, the statement said. During his remain in Cambodia, Choummaly will meet separately with President of the National Assembly Heng Samrin, Prime Minister Hun Sen, and initial Vice-President of the Senate Say Chhum.
  • Xi Jinping Meets with President Choummaly Sayasone of Laos

    CHINA, 2015/02/21 On November 8, 2014, President Xi Jinping met with President Choummaly Sayasone of Laos at the Great Hall of the People. Xi Jinping welcomed Choummaly to attend the Dialogue on Strengthening Connectivity Partnership in China. Choummaly expressed that Laos highly appreciates China's host of the Dialogue which he believes is of great significance in promoting the cooperation and common development of nations in the region.
  • Xi vows strong cooperation with Laos

    CHINA, 2013/10/10 China and Laos promised closer coordination on ASEAN and international affairs, as the president of the Southeast Asian country began a five-day visit to China on Thursday. President Xi Jinping and Laotian President Choummaly Saygnasone made the remarks as they met at the Great Hall of the People. The two nations should "strengthen their mutual considerate and support on international and regional affairs, particularly communication, coordination and cooperation on major principal issues regarding regional peace and stability," Xi said during the conference, according to a news release from the Foreign Ministry.
  • UK trade envoy visits Laos

    LAOS, 2013/10/10 "My purpose was to see that unnecessary barriers to the smooth operation of friendship and business between the two nations were removed whenever and wherever possible," Lord David Puttnam, the British Trade Envoy. The comments came at the end of the Lao leg of a larger tour of Southeast Asia by Lord Puttnam, designed to promote British trade interests, investment and other links. In Laos his program encompassed education, film and creative industries inclunding trade and investment . During his visit, Puttnam met with senior Lao government officials inclunding Khemmani Pholsena, Vice Minister of Industry and Commerce, who he congratulated on Laos'accession to the WTO. Puttnam and Pholsena discussed a number of topics inclunding the role of the UK in promoting industries in Laos, according to a British Embassy press release.
