Thailand: Commerce Ministry slashes 2014 export target

2014/05/30

The Commerce Ministry has slashed its 2014 export target to only 3.5 % from 5 %, as the world economy faces a long and rocky road to recovery, particularly in China, which swallows up some 10 % of Thai shipments and is as well a major source of request for other nations' products.

"The world economic recovery remains uncertain. In particular, the slowdown of China's economy has created a domino result on Thai shipments.

This would affect Thailand's exports to a lot of nations, inclunding Asean, our single major overseas market," Permanent Secretary Srirat Rastapana said Thursday.
