    HONG KONG, 2011/01/17 The latest Hong Kong Oil & Gas Report from BMI forecasts that the country will account for just 1.09% of Asia Pacific regional oil demand by 2015, while making no contribution to supply. Regional oil use of 21.42mn barrels per day (b/d) in 2001 will hit an estimated 27.11mn b/d in 2010, then rises to around 30.64mn b/d by 2015.

  • PetroChina Moves Into European Refining Market(11/1/2011)

    CHINA, 2011/01/11 PetroChina Co., China's biggest energy producer, gained a foothold in Europe next agreeing to set up a joint venture with Ineos Group Holdings Plc to accelerate its world expansion. PetroChina and Ineos, the U.K.'s major privately-held company, will refine and trade oil products at the Grangemouth refinery in Scotland and the Lavera plant in southern France, according to a statement yesterday. Both have daily oil- processing capacities of about 210,000 barrels, it said.

  • Oil Little Changed after China Bank Reserve Move

    CHINA, 2010/11/27 Oil prices remained above $82 a barrel on Friday, recovering from a brief dip after China increased banks' reserve requirements by 50 basis points for the second time in two weeks. By 1118 GMT, U.S. crude oil futures CLc1 were up 45 cents at $82.30 a barrel. Prices briefly touched intra-day lows of $81.54 a barrel after the news and were down from earlier highs of $82.75 a barrel.
  • CNOOC to increase new energy production

    CHINA, 2010/11/27 China's largest offshore oil producer, said new energy will be a large part for 40 to 50 % of the company's total energy produced for the next 5 years coming. "At present, new energy accounts for less than 10 % ," Fu Chengyu, chairman of CNOOC, said. "But we will try to increase that to 40 to 50 %." He also said clean energy such as wind power will account for 20 to 30 % of the company's total energy production during the 12th Five-Year Plan period (2011-2015).
  • Iron ore exports to China fall to 6.4% (23/11/2010)

    INDIA, 2010/11/23 India's share in Chinese imports of iron ore has fallen drastically to 6.4% in October, the latest Customs data showed. The slowdown began last year when India met only 20% of Chinese requirement. Chinese buyers have now begun to source this crucial steel making component in larger quantities from other markets.
  • Pakistan relax big hydropower contract rules (22/11/2010)

    PAKISTANZZZ, 2010/11/22 Pakistani government has decided in principle to relax conditions for awarding contracts to international companies for large hydropower projects, by doing away with the international competitive bidding (ICB) required under the existing procurement rules. Under the guidelines, the government will invite early next year proposals for development of hydropower projects in amount provinces and Azad Kashmir on the BOOT (build, own, operate and transfer) basis.
  • China and Shell to Explore Canadian Oil Sands (13/11/2010)

    CHINA, 2010/11/13 As China demonstrates its political clout at the G20 summit in Seoul, the country continues to make headlines in economic and energy news as the China National Petroleum Company (CNPC) has made an agreement with Shell to develop Canadian oil sands. CNPC, the parent of PetroChina, reported that its president, Jiang Jiemin and Royal Dutch Shell Plc (NYSE:RDS.B) CEO Peter Voser signed a memorandum of agreement in Beijing on "integrated co-operation" of oil and gas projects in Canada and coal bed methane development in China.
  • Crude output increases

    INDIA, 2010/09/24 India's crude oil production in August rose for the ninth straight month, led by non-national firms including Cairn India, operator of the country's biggest onshore field. Asia's third-biggest energy consumer pumped 3.2 million metric tonnes of oil, equivalent to about 768,000 barrels a day, an increase of 15 % from a year formerly , the Oil Ministry said in a statement yesterday.
