    BOTSWANA, 2017/11/01 Addis Ababa — African economies require structural transformation to attain sustained increase that trickles down to all its peoples, an official from the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) told experts gathered at the organization’s Ethiopian headquarters. Soteri Gatera, who heads the ECA’s Industrialization and Infrastructure Section, says only such “inclusive” economic increase will help resolve the “persistent social economic problems” Africa faces.
  • China has given Mauritania close to 15 million Euros for the construction of a hospital

    MAURITANIA, 2014/05/14 China has given Mauritania close to 15 million Euros for the construction of a hospital in the eastern region of Kiffa, an official source said on Sunday. The hospital's foundation stone was laid on Saturday by Mauritania's Health Minister Ahmedou Ould Hademine Ould Jelvoune and China's ambassador to Mauritania Chen Gonglai. The hospital with a capacity of 150 beds, will be constructed within the next 36 months by a Chinese company that is by presently operating in Mauritania.
  • Mauritania to Build Highway with Kuwaiti Loan

    MAURITANIA, 2012/12/08 The Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Improvment(KFAED) has issued a loan of over $35 million for the construction of a 135 km highway in Mauritania that will link Nema to Fasala Nere, near the Malian border. The project that will as well link the Port of Nouakchott to the border crossing at northwestern Mali will support economic and social development in Mauritania through the improvement of logistic and transport services, KFAED said in a release.
