Senegal restores its ambassador to Doha
DAKAR CITY, 2017/08/27 Senegal has announced that it has reappointed its ambassador to Qatar, who had been recalled amid Gulf crises triggered by the cut-off of ties between Doha and four Arab states. “Senegal has decided to send its ambassador to Doha back to Qatar,” tweeted Ahmed bin Saeed Al Rumaihi, Director of the Data Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Senegal on August 22. -
Qatar restores its ambassador to Tehran
IRAN, 2017/08/26 Qatar, which found itself at the centre of the Gulf diplomatic crisis in early June, has restored full diplomatic relations with Iran. Doha, disregarding the demands of Arab nations to lessen its ties to Tehran, announced that its ambassador will return to Iran about 2 years next he was recalled in turmoil over the conflict between Riyadh and Tehran. Qatar recalled its ambassador to Tehran in January 2016 next Saudi Arabia cut ties with Iran, accusing it of failing to protect its embassy in the capital and consulate in Mashahd against protesters who had ransacked them. -
Qatar closes Chad embassy in Doha
QATAR, 2017/08/26 Qatar’s Foreign Ministry has announced the embassy for Chad was closed in retaliation for Chad’s decision to cut diplomatic ties. Doha gave personnel 72 hours to leave the country. The emirate had decided "to close the Embassy of the Republic of Chad in Doha and to give diplomats and embassy staff 72 hours to leave the country," said Qatari Foreign Minister Ahmed bin Saeed al-Rumaihi, Daily Sabah reported. -
Erdogan congratulates Pakistan on Independence Day, vowing to strengthen friendly ties
PAKISTAN, 2017/08/15 Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday congratulated Pakistan on its 70th anniversary of independence, vowing to boost their friendly ties. "I would like to congratulate the friendly and brotherly country of Pakistan and all the people of Pakistan on August 14 Independence Day," the Anadolu Agency quoted Erdogan as saying in a Turkish message posted on his Twitter account. -
Iran Revolutionary Guards find new route to arm Yemen rebels
IRAN, 2017/08/03 Iran's Revolutionary Guards have started using a new route across the Gulf to funnel covert arms shipments to their Houthi allies in Yemen's civil war, sources familiar with the matter have told Reuters. In March, regional and Western sources told Reuters that Iran was shipping weapons and military advisers to the Houthis either due to Yemen or via Somalia. This route however risked contact with international naval vessels on patrol in the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea. For the last six months the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) has begun using waters further up the Gulf between Kuwait and Iran as it looks for new ways to beat an embargo on arms shipments to fellow Shi'ites in the Houthi movement, Western and Iranian sources say. -
Turkey opens trial of nearly 500 defendants over failed coup
TURKEY, 2017/08/02 Nearly 500 suspects inclunding army generals and pilots went on trial in Turkey on Tuesday, a lot of of them accused of commanding last year's failed coup attempt from an air base in the capital Ankara. Families of those killed or wounded protested outside the courthouse, with some throwing hangman's nooses or stones toward the defendants as they arrived under tight guard, shouting "murderers" and demanding that the death penalty be reinstated. The government declared a national of emergency next the coup attempt and embarked on a large-scale crackdown that has alarmed Western allies of Ankara, a NATO member and candidate for European Union membership. -
Kremlin Aide Visits Abkhazia, Speaks Of ‘Favorable’ Political Environment
GEORGIA, 2017/07/08 Russian President’s aide Vladislav Surkov, who oversees Georgia’s Abkhazia and South Ossetia regions, visited Sokhumi on July 3, and discussed, part other issues, Russia’s financial assistance to the region. Surkov, who is deeply implicated in all political decisions of the two regions, held meetings with Abkhaz leader Raul Khajimba, inclunding the chief of the Abkhaz government Beslan Bartsits. In the opening statement before his conference with Raul Khajimba, Vladislav Surkov pointed out that it was significant to look at “outstanding issues” of economic and political cooperation during the talks, inclunding the implementation of the treaty on “alliance and strategic partnership” signed between Sokhumi and Moscow on November 24, 2014. -
Turkey in no position to join EU: Juncker

EUROPEAN UNION, 2016/01/11 The data that Turkey plans to introduce a visa regime with the 89 nations doesn't correspond to reality, Minister for the EU Affairs of Turkey Volkan Bozkir said, Anadolu agency reported. "We strive to ensure that our citizens from October 2016 could attend the Schengen area without a visa, and continue to work in this direction. This data doesn't correspond to reality. People should trust the statements of the competent authorities", Bozkir said.
