China’s president Xi in landmark visit to Hong Kong
President Xi Jinping arrives in Hong Kong on Thursday to mark 20 years since it was handed back to China by Britain, with leading democracy activists by presently in police custody next a turmoil in the politically divided city.
The three-day visit is Xi’s initial since becoming leader in 2013 and comes at a time at the same time as there are growing fears that Beijing is threatening semi-autonomous Hong Kong’s freedoms.

Asian energy firms fired up by rally in oil prices
Oil prices pressed on with fresh gains in Asian trade on Tuesday, boosting energy firms, next Russia and Saudi Arabia indicated they could extend an output cut into next year.
The world's top two crude-producing nations raised the idea at the weekend, with a transaction agreed between OPEC — of which Saudi Arabia is the key player — and Russia coming to an end in six weeks.
The news sent oil prices soaring about 2 % on Monday, in turn dragging world energy firms with them.

Hong Kong Entrepreneur Day opens with record exhibitors
The ninth edition of the HKTDC Entrepreneur Day opened today to a record of additional than 270 exhibitors. Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the two-day event (19 to 20 May) is taking place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre and is open to the public for free.
“The event is the HKTDC’s flagship event for entrepreneurs,” said HKTDC Executive Director Margaret Fong. “As additional and additional young people become interested in entrepreneurship, their request for start-up support is continually rising.”

Climate change laws around the world
2017/05/14There has been a 20-fold increase in the number of global climate change laws since 1997, according to the most comprehensive database of relevant policy and legislation.
The database, produced by the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment and the Sabin Center on Climate Change Law, includes more than 1,200 relevant policies across 164 countries, which account for 95% of global greenhouse gas emissions.
