Egypt: Electricity Min - New Facilities to Private Sector to Set Up Power Plant

Electricity Minister Mahmoud Balbaa said on Sunday new facilities will be offered to the private sector to encourage them set up power plants to meet the country's growing needs of electricity.

Among these facilities, Balbaa said, the Egyptian Company for Electricity Transfer will be committed to buy power produced from the private-owned projects or allow its transfer to contracted bodies.

As well, the private sector will get lands necessary for power projects under usufruct system in return for 2 % of produced energy annually, the minister said.
