Egypt: Cotton Production Up By 68% Between in 2010-2011
Egyptian cotton production increased by 68 % between 2010 and 2011 to reach 635,000 tons against 378,000 in 2009/2010, according to the annual bulletin of the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics on Thursday 01/11/2012.
This is attributed to the increase of the land allocated for cotton cultivation.
Rice production as well increased in 2010/2011 by 31.2 % to hit 5.68 million tons against 4.33 million tons in the previous year, the agency said.
Wheat production came the third with 8.37 million tons in 2010/2011 compared to 7.17 million in previous year.
