Morsi's Visit to China Is 'Launching Pad' to Boost Bilateral Economic Ties
Morsi's official visit to China is meant to foster economic and trade relations and promote investment cooperation between the two countries.
During a press conference on Saturday, Saleh said the visit shows the interest of New Egypt to boost an open door policy and devote a particular attention to economic and trade affairs inclunding to attract investment and promote the tourism movement.
President Mohamed Morsi's visit is a first step toward opening up new vistas of economic ties between Egypt and China, added Saleh.
The Egyptian official said Chinese investments in Egypt have been progressing over the recent years, adding they focus on the fields of industry, tourism, construction, agriculture, communications and data technology.
Saleh said the Egyptian government sought to encourage China to participate in implementing Egypt's plan aimed at boosting the economy and developing the society.
He said Egypt invited Chinese companies to contribute to carrying out significant development projects in the country.
Saleh added the Egyptian side held talks with the Chinese-African development fund to esablish a representation office of the fund in Cairo to participate in efforts to promote the Egyptian economy.
The Egyptian official stressed the interest of Chinese investors in a lot of projects that were probed during the visit. Saleh said the visit aimed at setting up industrial and residential zones in Egypt with a Chinese expertise.
On his among, Minister of Industry and Foreign Trade Hatem Saleh said preparations are underway to hold meetings of the joint Egyptian-Chinese trade committee next year.
