    UNITED ARAB EMIRATES, 2014/09/06 The United Arab Emirate (UAE) appear to be experiencing a new golden age with top competitiveness and growing entrepreneurial and commercial confidence which has reached the highest peak since 2009. The annual index of the World Economic Forum ranks the UAE at the top for competitiveness in the Arab world and 12th at an international level. The ranking, drafted by 144 nations and based on data provided by the UN, the International Monetary Fund and the World Health Organization places institutions at the top worldwide in terms of lack of interference from organized crime and third for the level of confidence awarded by citizens to politicians and the almost total absence of bureaucracy.
  • Cheaper medicines to be made in UAE

    UNITED ARAB EMIRATES, 2013/07/20 Additional generic, cheaper medicines for common conditions like hypertension and cholesterol will be available within two years following a landmark decision by the UAE Ministry of Health. Currently, only 940 drugs from the registered 6,868 are made in the UAE. As per the ministry’s resolution, 14 pharmaceutical manufacturers in the UAE are presently permitted to start clinical studies on patented drugs nearing patency expiration. The resolution will ensure that generic versions of a patented drug will be available in the market as any minute at this time as the patented drug’s patent term ends.
