  • Paraguay PPP bill is "privatization in disguise

PARAGUAY, 2013/10/15 Representatives from Paraguay's congress of the people unit have filed a petition to the chief of congress asking that a bill to promote public-private partnerships (PPP) in public infrastructure be rejected, according to a congressional release. The law, which was passed in the senate and is presently awaiting for congress to approve the modificaitons, aims to increase private investment in public infrastructure projects in the country by creating a streamlined legal system and allowing the national to determine where to take the money from to pay the private operator, which would speed up the process. Those who oppose the bill claim it is "privatization in disguise."
