European Union: Turkey in no position to join EU: Juncker

The President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, told France 2 News on Monday that Turkey is no position to become a member of the European Union, due to their current national of affairs.

“I believe that Turkey, in its current national, is not in a position to become a member any time any minute at this time and not even over a longer period,” Juncker said on French television France 2.

Juncker’s comments come just 72 hours next Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan suspended his country’s adherence to the human rights guidelines set forth by the European Commission.

Since July 15th, 60,000 people have been arrested, fired, or suspended from their jobs by the Turkish regime; this number is growing everyday.

Before today, Turkish authorities issued arrest warrants for 42 journalists that they deemed a threat to the current regime.

UNWTO: International tourism – strongest half-year results since 2010
