  • Aluminium-Lithium Alloys Fight Back

  • UNWTO: International tourism – strongest half-year results since 2010

    AFGHANISTAN, 2017/09/09 Destinations worldwide welcomed 598 million international tourists in the initial six months of 2017, some 36 million additional than in the same period of 2016.     EUROPEAN UNION, 2017/08/22 European Central Bank policymakers raised concern over the appreciation of the euro in July, pointing out the risk of the exchange rate overshooting someday, and stressed that the favorable financing conditions are still supported by the massive stimulus. "Concerns were expressed about a possible overshooting in the repricing by financial markets, notably the foreign exchange markets, someday," the bank said in the minutes, which it calls "the account", of the July 20 rate-setting session released on Thursday.

    EUROPEAN UNION, 2017/08/22 Eurozone industry is undergoing a cautious recovery and an actual development in the current trend of production is from instantly on to happen, Bert Colijn, a senior economist at ING, said. Industrial production dropped 0.6 % monthly in June, reversing a 1.2 % rise in May, data from Eurostat showed on August 14. The new fall was the initial decline in four months. Annually, industrial production increase moderated to 2.6 % in June from 3.9 % in May.

A "hard" Brexit is "economically much superior to soft" argues Prof Patrick Minford, lead author of a statement from Economists for Free Trade. He says eliminating tariffs, either within free trade deals or unilaterally, would deliver huge gains.
  • UK will have to pay beyond Brexit, EU warns

    EUROPEAN UNION, 2017/08/07 The EU's budget commissioner has warned that the UK would have to pay into the EU’s coffers until at least 2020, even next it has left the bloc in March 2019. Guenther Oettinger told the German newspaper Bild on Monday (7 August) that Britain is obligated to honour commitments it has made to the EU’s long-term programmes. The commissioner confirmed before calculations that the UK would have to pay even next Brexit, as some of the programmes and funds, which Britain has committed to, run on next 2019.
