  • EU-funded project: round table on ethics and disciplinary issues in Georgian Bar Association

    ARMENIA, 2015/08/30 A round table on ethics and disciplinary issues in the Georgian Bar Association's legal framework was held in Tbilisi last week as part of the joint EU-Council of Europe project for ‘Support to the Georgian Bar Association’. The round table, bringing together members of the Georgian Bar Association Ethics Commission inclunding European experts, aimed to identify gaps in the regulatory framework of the Association, inclunding solutions to meet European standards, according to EU Neighbourhood Info. Participants discussed the current situation and agreed to start work on legislative/regulatory changes. The CoE will follow the process and present concrete proposals, which will from presently on be reflected in the legislative/regulatory framework.

On the hand, it became obvious even to the majority conservative government officials that changes in economic policy are required. On the other hand, the resurgence of oil exports in the first half of 2012 allowed the government to avoid necessary reforms. The economy finishes this year with a low output increase rate, but fragile macroeconomic stability is achieved.

    BELARUS, 2012/12/27 The Belarusian government may obtain a loan from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in 2013, Nadzeya Yermakova, chief of the National Bank of Belarus, said on Wednesday, BelaPAN said. "The IMF leadership does not reject the possibility of a new program being implemented," the government's news agency BelTA quoted her as saying. "However, we have from now on to do considerable work to devise and agree on the terms of a loan program with the Fund with consideration for Belarus' interests, and receive broad support from the Executive Board."
