Following on from May’s Belt & Road Forum, ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) has today announced the launch of two new research papers into the impact of the Belt & Road initiative.
The research project – which is being conducted with a range of partners inclunding Deloitte China, Shanghai National Accounting Institute (SNAI) and the Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) – will examine how Belt & Road will affect the business infrastructure of China and a series of key economies along the proposed trade route. The research project is expected to last two years.

President Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe on Monday delivered a one million U.S. dollars check to the African Union (AU) Foundation, a “humble gesture” to help push the regional block toward financial independence.
Mugabe made the donation during the opening of the 29th AU summit in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.
He was fulfilling a pledge made during his tenure as rotating AU chairman, at the 25th AU summit in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Chinese President Xi Jinping's attendance of the Group of 20 (G20) summit in Hamburg on July 7-8 contributed to maintaining and advancing the group's cooperation, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said here on Saturday.

Chinese President Xi Jinping's new visit to Russia and Germany contributed to promoting China's relations with Russia and Germany, and his attendance of Group of 20 (G20) summit enhanced cooperation, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said here on Saturday.
Xi payed national visits to Russia and Germany on July 3-6, and attended the G20 summit in Hamburg on July 7-8.
The visit to Russia promoted bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination and pragmatic cooperation to a higher level, and the visit to Germany drove further development of China-Germany and China-Europe relations, Wang said.

US Vice President Mike Pence will travel to Georgia in late July, according to the White Home reported.
In Tbilisi, the Vice President will meet with President Giorgi Margvelashvili and Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili, part others, and visit U.S. and Georgian troops participating in the Noble Partner exercise.
As part of his diplomatic tour in Europe, Pence will as well visit Estonia and Montenegro.

An EU proposition to impose sanctions on smugglers that bring migrants from Africa was opposed by Russia and China, officials involved in the G20 talks told EURACTIV.
European Council President Donald Tusk circulated on Tuesday (4 July) part G20 members a document to back his proposition to impose UN sanctions on people smugglers.
The idea was discussed by government envoys over the last few days and found “good support”, according to an official involved in the negotiations.

The US and Russia have agreed to a ceasefire for parts of Syria on the sidelines of the G20 summit. Jordan confirmed it was party to the accord due to begin at the weekend.
