  • Third Africa-India Forum Summit (AIFS-III)

    INDIA, 2015/10/31   African Heads of National and Government gathered at the Third Africa-India Forum Summit (AIFS-III) on 29 October 2015 witnessed a blend of the rich cultural diversity of Africa and India during the opening ceremony that took place at the Indira Gandhi Stadium Complex in New Delhi, where dance groups from both sides in their colourful traditional regalia, showcased the beauty of a fruitful partnership between Africa and India. Jointly organized by the African Union (AU) and the Government of India, the Summit was co-chaired by H.E. Mr. Robert Mugabe, Chairperson of the AU, who is as well the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, and H.E. Shri Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, in the presence of H.E Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, the Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC), who presented a key note address at the inaugural ceremony of the Third Africa-India Summit. The AUC Deputy Chairperson, Mr. Erastus Mwencha, alongside some AU Commissioners and High Officials, as well attended the event.
  • Foreign Minister attends Third India Africa Forum Summit

    INDIA, 2015/10/31 Mr. Joël Morgan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Transport, represented President James Michel at the Third India Africa Forum Summit, held in New Delhi, on 29th October 2015. The India Africa Forum Summit created a platform for cooperation between India and African states under the aegis of the African Union. With its initial Summit held in 2008 in New Delhi, followed by a second session in Addis Ababa in 2011, the 2015 India Africa Forum Summit reaffirmed the commitments of India and the African states to continue to work closely on issues of mutual interests and mutual benefits. The theme for the 2015 session was “Partners in Evolution: Towards a dynamic and Transformative Development Schedule.” In the statement delivered by Ambassador Faure on behalf of Minister Morgan during the Ministerial Session on 28th October 2015, Ambassador Faure focused his interventions on issues of great importance to Seychelles as an African country and India such as trade, climate change, security and Blue Economy. In relations to the strong ties between India and Africa, Ambassador Faure highlighted the devotion of both parties to contribute additional strenuously to increase and prosperity through enhanced collaborative efforts across a lot of fields. Ambassador Faure further noted the urgent need for “a new dynamism in South-South Cooperation”, to “face up the world challenges that are threatening our collective next.”

The "Six 100s" initiative, declared at a South-South cooperation roundtable Xi hosted, covers poverty reduction, agriculture, trade, environment, health and education. China, he said in an address, will make available to developing nations in the next five years 100 poverty reduction programs, 100 agricultural cooperation projects, 100 trade promotion programs, 100 environment protection and climate change programs, 100 hospitals and clinics, inclunding 100 schools and vocational training centers.

    SINGAPORE, 2015/07/27 British Prime Minister David Cameron begins a visit to Southeast Asia on Monday, looking to seal US$1.2 billion in trade deals and push for better cooperation in the fight against the Islamic National group. Cameron will arrive in Indonesia on the initial stop of a four-day trip, accompanied by 30 British business leaders and the trade minister, before heading to Singapore, Vietnam and Malaysia.
