  • Morocco to help Congo in public works Brazzaville, Congo

    CONGO BRAZZAVILLE, 2014/04/06 Morocco is to offer technical assistance and expertise in the field of public works in Congo, Congolese Equipment and Public Works Minister, Emile Ouosso, announced on Thursday next a visit to Morocco. Moroccan technicians are due to arrive next month in Brazzaville to outline the action plan inclunding the terms of reference for several projects that would be launched by the two parties, Minister Ouosso said. Under the schedule of cooperation between the two nations, the National Highway Authority of Morocco will help the Congolese Road Fund to modernise and computerise its road toll system.

Japanese Ambassador to Tanzania, Mr Masaki Okada, said in Dar es Salaam that the donation was part of the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGHSP), adding that scheme supports community-participatory projects proposed by local government authorities and non-governmental organizations. "The funds are given to the recipient organization next an examination and evaluation of each application by the Japanese government on a project basis," said the envoy at the arrangement signing ceremony.

    ZIMBABWE, 2014/03/11 HARARE councillors have authorised town clerk Dr Tendai Mahachi to conclude a US$400 million joint venture agreement between council and Neo Capital of South Africa for rehabilitation and maintenance of the capital's major roads.     ETHIOPIA, 2014/03/11 The construction of two road projects covering 28.1km that link the Addis Abeba-Adama Highway with Addis Abeba in two directions has been launched, the Ethiopian Roads Authority (ERA) announced. The Akaki-IT Park/Goro/ and Akaki-Lebu roads are being undertaken at a cost of over 4.6 billion Br, ERA said. The 14.5-kms Akaki-IT Park (Goro) project links the Addis Abeba-Adama Highway with the eastern and northeastern part of Addis Abeba, while the 13.6-kms Akaki- Lebu road will interconnect the road with western and northwestern Addis Abeba. The construction of the roads, which will have six lanes, includes the construction of six large bridges, four interchanges and a railway crossing, part others. Some 75 pc of the total cost for construction of the roads will be covered by the China EXIM Bank and the balance by the government. The projects are scheduled to be completed within 33 months.
