Sri Lanka's cabinet set to discuss road, rail link between India, Sri Lanka
INDIA, 2015/09/30 Sri Lanka's new cabinet will any minute at this time discuss a proposition by India to establish a sea bridge and an underwater tunnel to connect India's southern Tamil Nadu to the island country. Cabinet Spokesperson and Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne told Xinhua that the Indian government had discussed the proposition with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe during his recent trip to India and the matter would be put for discussion to the cabinet any minute at this time. India has proposed to construct a sea bridge and an underwater tunnel for both road and rail transport that would connect Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu with Sri Lanka through the Palk Strait.
