  • Routes Africa forum aims to improve African air connectivity

    BOTSWANA, 2016/05/15  An event dedicated to the development of the African aviation industry will take place next month in Tenerife (26-28 June) to encourage the launch of new air services to, from and within the African continent. Routes Africa 2016 will help to improve African connectivity by bringing together airlines, airports and tourism authorities to discuss next air services. Around 250 route development professionals are expected to attend the forum which was founded ten years ago to stimulate increase in the industry.

    DAKAR CITY, 2014/04/13 A regional conference on aviation security in Africa opened on Wednesday in Dakar, Senegal, to address challenges and improve the safety of air transport in Africa. The conference is organized by Airports Council International-Africa Region (ACI-Africa) in collaboration with the Agence des Aéroports du Sénégal (ADS) and the Senegalese government. Chaired by the Senegalese Minister of Air Transport and Tourism, Oumar Gueye, the conference is on the theme, 'Safety intelligence against threats”.

    DAKAR CITY, 2014/02/14 The West African Development Bank (BOAD) and the Senegalese government have signed a loan agreement worth 10 billion CFA francs for the partial financing of the project aimed at deepening the access channel and reconstructing the oil wharf in the Port of Dakar in Senegal,  sources close to the financial institution at its Lomé-based headquarters. The project, which is aimed primarily at strengthening the port's competitiveness, will allow third generation ships to access the port.

    DAKAR CITY, 2013/08/05 An initiative to restart commercial sea transportation between Freetown and Dakar has been put forward by Her Excellency the Sierra Leone Ambassador to Senegal Khadijatu Bassir to the Senegalese Minister of Fisheries and Maritime Affairs Hon. Pape Diouf. Speaking to the Minister on July 31st together with other senior officials of the Ministry at his down town office in Dakar, Ambassador Bassir said her visit was geared to further strengthen the fraternal ties between the two nations as both nations share much in common. “I am as well here to propose and to deeply discuss the vital issue of the reintroduction of the commercial operation of a sea vessel between Sierra Leone and Senegal” she said.
