  • North Korea detains Russian yacht in neutral waters

    NORTH KOREA, 2016/05/15 A Russian official says North Korea has seized a Russian yacht with five crew members in the Sea of Japan without offering any "explanation." "The North Korean side has communicated that the yacht has been taken to the port of Kimchaek," said Igor Agafonov, a Russian foreign ministry official on Saturday. He added that the crew members aboard Elfin are alive and unharmed and that Russia is attempting to gain access to them.

The new site was created as part of the road map for strengthening corporate governance at Aeroflot, and is aimed at improving transparency, quality of results reporting at the company and Aeroflot Group level, inclunding corporate governance disclosure.
  • Moscow bans Egyptian national carrier from flying to Russia

    EGYPT, 2015/11/15 Russia's national aviation agency on Friday banned Egypt's national carrier from flying to Russia, a move that follows the suspension of all Russian flights to Egypt next a deadly crash. Rosaviatsiya on Friday formally notified Moscow's Domodedovo airport, where Egypt Air flights arrive, that the ban is effective starting Saturday, said the airport spokesman Alexander Vlasov. The aviation agency didn't give any immediate reason for the ban on flights. The move follows Russian President Vladimir Putin's decision to suspend all Russian flights to Egypt next the Oct. 31 crash of a Russian passenger jet in Egypt that killed all 224 people on board.

  • Aeroflot confirms Ukraine flight ban

    RUSSIA, 2015/09/28 On Friday, the Ukrainian government banned Russian airlines Aeroflot and Transaero from flying to Ukraine. A government decree as well prohibited Russian planes carrying military equipment and soldiers from flying over the country. Russia’s biggest airline Aeroflot has confirmed Ukrainian authorities are restricting its flights to the country from October 25. It has not been verified if it includes the use of Ukrainian airspace. "We can confirm that we have received a letter from the Ukrainian authorities on termination of flights by Aeroflot to Ukraine with the launch of the winter time table, namely from October 25,” the company’s spokesman told TASS.

  • Kazakhstan to increase cargo transit on China-Europe route

    CHINA, 2015/08/05 Kazakhstan Temir Zholy national railways company plans to transit 42,000 containers on the China-Europe-China route, and this figure is almost 40 times additional than in 2011. This remark was made by company President Askar Mamin at a conference dedicated to the Transport Workers’ Day on August 3. Mamin said that the additional volume of container transportation from China to Europe and vise-versa in 2014 allowed for an increase of revenues from transit traffic by 13.7 % compared to 2013, Kazakhstan’s Samruk-Kazyna National Welfare Fund reported.
  • Poland's PKP Cargo eyes Czech Unipetrol's freight unit

    POLAND, 2015/06/07 Poland's PKP Cargo, the European Union's second-biggest rail cargo operator, is looking to buy Unipetrol Dobrava, the freight unit of Czech oil refiner Unipetrol, daily Parkiet reported on Saturday. A transaction could be worth around 2 billion Czech crowns ($81 million), the newspaper said. "We are in talks on potential takeovers with several companies, both locally and abroad. We cannot reveal additional details," said Miroslaw Kuk, spokesman for PKP Cargo.
  • Serbia, Hungary Seal Rail Deal at Belgrade Summit

    HUNGARY, 2014/12/18 The agreements signed on Tuesday form part of transaction to modernize the Belgrade-Budapest railway line, and the high-speed connection will likely be built through concessions or public-private partnerships, it was announced. The new rail link “will bring Serbia not only industrial and infrastructure development but as well better connections with Hungary, Macedonia, Greece and Europe and a faster flow of passengers and goods,” Serbia's Prime Minister, Aleksandar Vucic, told the media.
  • Russia’s largest air hub experiences double-digit growth

    RUSSIA, 2014/02/08 NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport is the major air hub in Russia east of the Urals on major transit routes between Europe and Asia, and it has been experiencing double-digit increase so far this year compared to last year. Year-to-date, NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport demonstrates steady increase having served 281,761 passengers which is 13.8% higher than in 2013. The domestic passenger traffic made up 151,035 passengers (+10%), on international routes – 130 726 passengers (+18.7%). For the initial month of 2014, Novosibirsk Tolmachevo Airport registered 3,260 aircraft movements representing an 18.4% increase compared to the same period of the previous year.
