  • Aluminium-Lithium Alloys Fight Back

    FRANCE, 2017/09/16 At the same time as it comes to the aviation industry, new technologies and manufacturing techniques have been mounting a silent revolution in the new generation of commercial twin-aisle aircraft: the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and Airbus A350.   • Alstom-led consortium awarded $2.88 billion Dubai metro extension

    FRANCE, 2016/08/31 Dubai's transport authority announced Wednesday it had awarded a French-led consortium a $2.88 billion arrangement to extend its metro network to the site of the Expo 2020 world trade equitable. The consortium, led by France's Alstom Conglomerate and as well inclunding Spain's Acciona and Turkey's Gulermak, will construct a 15 kilometre (nine mile) extension to the site of the equitable, a statement said. Alstom will supply 50 trains, 15 of them for the new extension and 35 to upgrade existing services, the statement said.
  • Brussels Airport reopens to fewer passengers

  • Kazakhstan to increase cargo transit on China-Europe route

    CHINA, 2015/08/05 Kazakhstan Temir Zholy national railways company plans to transit 42,000 containers on the China-Europe-China route, and this figure is almost 40 times additional than in 2011. This remark was made by company President Askar Mamin at a conference dedicated to the Transport Workers’ Day on August 3. Mamin said that the additional volume of container transportation from China to Europe and vise-versa in 2014 allowed for an increase of revenues from transit traffic by 13.7 % compared to 2013, Kazakhstan’s Samruk-Kazyna National Welfare Fund reported.
  • EU Hails Balkan Transport Network Deal

    ALBANIA, 2015/05/04 The EU Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy, Johannes Hahn, on Tuesday said the “Western Balkan Six” conference in Brussels had reached agreement on a regional transport network. The EU is ready to allocate 130 million euros from pre-accession IPA funds for the project by the end of the year, Hahn told a joint press conference with EU Transport Commissioner Violeta Bulc. The funds will increase over the coming years, he added. Tuesday's summit, attended by the prime ministers of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia, marked a follow-up to a similar conference held last year in Berlin.
  • Swedish King and Queen tour Airbus during state visit

    FRANCE, 2014/12/05 His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf and Her Majesty Queen Silvia of Sweden, were given a guided tour of the A350 XWB Final Assembly Line (FAL) in Toulouse as part of their official three day National visit of France. The King and Queen were accompanied by the Swedish Minister for Employment, Ylva Johansson, the Swedish Minister for Energy, Ibrahim Baylan, the French Secretary of National Carole Delga, in charge of Trade and in presence of Swedish and French ambassadors.
  • Turkish Airlines' Senior Vice President for Marketing and Sales, Ziya Taşkent

    MACEDONIA, 2014/11/19 Turkish Airlines' Senior Vice President for Marketing and Sales, Ziya Taşkent, has said the company is willing to consider a joint venture in Macedonia aimed at setting up a new national carrier. MAT, Macedonian Airlines, the last government-backed national carrier, collapsed in 2009. Mat Airways, Macedonia’s last privately-backed national airline, folded in 2011. Taşkent said Turkish Airlines had by presently had similar experience in forming joint companies.
  • KLM Nonstop Amsterdam - Kampala

    NETHERLAND, 2014/10/07 The KLM Kampala office confirmed that effective 28th of October three of the presently daily flights will be de-linked from the stopover in Kigali and become nonstop services. Ugandans traveling abroad, or returning home and visitors from across the KLM and SkyTeam network will save precious time at the same time as they choose to fly with KLM to Entebbe on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.   • Frankfurt Airport records strong growth

    GERMANY, 2014/09/12 Welcoming 6.1 million passengers, Frankfurt Airport (FRA) completed a new monthly passenger record by exceeding the six million passenger mark for the initial time in a single month. This represented noticeable increase of 5.4 % year-on-year. Furthermore, FRA’s daily traffic volume surpassed the 200,000 passenger level 13 times in August 2014. Before, FRA had only passed this daily traffic peak four times within a single month. Frankfurt Airport as well registered its busiest traffic day in history on August 17, 2014, at the same time as Germany’s major aviation hub served 210,599 passengers. FRA’s cargo throughput (airfreight and airmail) rose by 3.2 % to 179,555 metric tons, up 3.2 % compared to the same month last year.   • The number of flights running between Salzburg and London is set to increase this coming winter,

    AUSTRIA, 2014/06/01 The number of flights running between Salzburg and London is set to increase this coming winter, British Airways has announced. From the end of October there will be a daily flight between Salzburg and London's Gatwick airport. From the middle of December, as the winter season really kicks in, up to nine flights per week will run between Salzburg and London. Five of these flights will be run during the week and two will run on both Saturdays and Sundays, an additional four services compared to the previous winter.
