  • Georgia to launch test train on Baku-Tbilisi-Kars

    AZERBAIJAN, 2014/12/20 The Georgian part of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway is ready to launch its initial test train, said Teymuraz Shawashenidze, Georgian Ambassador to Azerbaijan on December 19. He added that the work on the Georgian side of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway has been almost completed. Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway is being constructed on the base of Georgia-Azerbaijan-Turkish interstate agreement. The project is funded by the Azerbaijani National Oil Foundation in accordance with the country’s chief decree “Realization of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars project” since February 21, 2007.

He made the remark while speaking at the second United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Nations that kicked off in Vienna. "Georgia is not a landlocked country, however, it has close ties with such nations in accordance with its policy. Georgia implements the majority significant transit function for such nations," the president said.

    GEORGIA, 2013/12/26 There are no obstacles on the way of construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway, Georgian Economy Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili said on December 24. "Despite of the certain problems caused by the weather, the work is going at very high speed" he said. The minister further said a conference of the Georgian-Azerbaijani commission for the construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway will be held any minute at this time.
