    BAHRAIN, 2017/08/28 The air embargo imposed on Qatar only applies to airlines from Qatar or registered there, the United Arab Emirates Civil Aviation Authority said Tuesday.Embargo bans all Qatari aviation companies, aircraft registered in Qatar from landing or transiting through airspace of UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain. Saudi Arabia and Bahrain issued identical statements on the air embargo, which came into result at the same time as Riyadh, Abu Dhabi and Manama broke off relations with Qatar on June 5, accusing it of supporting "terrorism".

Marine transport and logistics conglomerate Qatar Navigation (Milaha) said in a statement that it had arranged voyages on a route between Qatar's Hamad Port and the Turkish port of Izmir, Azertac reported.

    PAKISTAN, 2017/08/15 Qatar has launched a new direct route between Hamad Port and Pakistan's port of Karachi, Qatar's national news agency (QNA) reported Monday. The new route, launched on Sunday, will boost trade between the two nations, and offer "fast and fasten" corridor for importers and exporters, with transit time of six days from Qatar to Karachi and eight days back, the statement said.

    QATAR, 2017/06/06 One of Qatar's richest men, Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani and other top businessmen in the Gulf, have expressed interest in helping government revive the defunct Uganda Airlines, a national carrier that collapsed nearly two decades ago. Sunday Monitor understands that a delegation of 25 businessmen and government officials led by Privatisation and Investment minister Evelyn Anite early last week, held closed-door talks with Sheikh Faisal in Doha, and persuaded him to invest in Uganda Airlines. Sources told Sunday Monitor that the conference with Sheikh Faisal was arranged by President Museveni's kingpin in the Gulf, Dr Rashid Yahya Ssemuddu, who the chief of Uganda's Mission in Riyadh but was moved to Iran in the recent reshuffle, although still stationed in Riyadh on a appropriate assignment.

    QATAR, 2016/06/13 Etihad Airways is celebrating 10 years of flying to Qatar this summer by launching nine additional weekly flights on the Abu Dhabi – Doha route reinforcing its commitment to one of the airline’s key markets in the Gulf. Effective 1 August 2016, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates will increase weekly frequency to Qatar’s capital city to 37 services.     QATAR, 2015/03/31 Leading carriers Emirates and Etihad Airways said Monday that their cockpits will have two crew members in at all times under new procedures introduced in response to the Germanwings disaster. Investigators believe co-pilot Andreas Lubitz locked his captain out of the cockpit of Flight 4U 9525 and deliberately steered the Airbus A320 into a French mountainside last week, killing all 150 people onboard. "Although there is no international industry regulation that mandates this as a compulsory practice, Emirates has implemented a new operating policy where there would always be two crew members in the cockpit," a spokesperson for the Dubai-based carrier said.

    QATAR, 2013/06/06 The chief executive of Qatar Airways said on Tuesday that his company will not be the prime customer for the new Boeing 787-10 X which is a longer version of the 787 Dreamliner. Boeing is expected to launch officially the new aircraft during the Paris Air Show that is scheduled to take place from 17 to 23 June, but the timing is still uncertain and Boeing officials said that the launch may be in the coming months.
