    ABIDJAN, 2017/07/20 Ivory Coast President Alassane Ouattara restored ministers in charge of defence, budget and the interior on Wednesday in a reshuffle of key cabinet positions following months of unrest, a government official announced in a statement. The world's top cocoa producer has endured waves of army mutinies and public sector strikes this year that have cost it hundreds of millions of dollars in pay-outs and squeezed a budget by presently under stress from a drop in export revenues.

    ABIDJAN, 2016/01/07 Prime Minister Daniel Kablan Duncan submitted his and his government's resignation on Wednesday, as the country's president pushes for reforms in the West African country. "At the last 2015 cabinet conference on December 23 you expressed your wish to inject a new dynamic into government action," Duncan told President Alassane Ouattara before what was meant to be the initial cabinet conference of the year. "In view of this, and as you embark on your second term, I would like, as tradition demands, to present to you my resignation as prime minister."

    ABIDJAN, 2014/02/27 A UN human rights expert, Mr. Doudou Diene, says Cote d’Ivoire must adopt urgent reforms before the presidential elections in October. Mr. Diene made the statement on Tuesday at the UN headquarters in New York following a 13-day official visit to the country. The expert, who is charged by the UN Human Rights Council to monitor, statement and advise on the situation of human rights in Cote d’Ivoire, urged the Ivorian authorities to accelerate the resolution of substantive issues, inclunding the reform of the Independent Electoral Commission and the updating of the electoral inventory.
