The draft constitutional revision, initiated by President of the Republic, Abdelaziz Bouteflika, will be submitted Sunday to a vote by the two Parliament Houses, to sit in appropriate session at the Palais des Nations in Algiers.
The parliament will have to vote on the draft Constitution in its entirety, which contains 74 amendments and 38 new articles.
The voting plenary session will be chaired by Abdelkader Bensalah, Chairman of the Council of the Country, in his capacity as President of Parliament, in accordance with the law establishing the organization and functioning of both Houses of Parliament.

In its December 23 edition, the influential American daily the New York Times published an article “doubting that the ailing President Abdelaziz Bouteflika” is running his country.

Algeria is a "strongly involved" country in promoting peace and security in the Sahel region, inclunding Mali and Libya, Secretary General of the Niger Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, African Integration and Niger community abroad Sani Ibrahim Abani stressed Sunday in Algiers.
In a statement to the press next his conference with Secretary General of the Foreign Ministry Abdelhamid Senouci Bereksi, Sani Abani welcomed the involvement of Algeria in restoring peace and security in Mali crowned by the signing of the peace and reconciliation agreement, and its contribution to seeking a definitive solution to the Libyan crisis.
The Niger official said talks with his Algerian counterpart allowed to review the national of bilateral cooperation, noting that the visit made in January by President of Niger (Mahamadou Issoufou) to Algeria allowed him to have "fruitful discussions" with President Abdelaziz Bouteflika.

Three sub committees on issues of security of people and property, socio-economic affairs and administrative cooperation have been set up Thursday in Niamey, during the conference of the Algerian-Niger Bilateral Border Committee (BBC).
Made up of experts and representatives of different sectors, the subcommittees will assess the implementation of the recommendations of the last session held in Algiers in December 2011, an official of the Ministry of Interior and Local Assemblies, Mohamed Akli Akretche told APS.
The conference of the BBC "is of paramount importance" as it allows officials from both nations to meet in order to consolidate decentralized bilateral cooperation to which the highest authorities of both nations attach "great interest," according to the same official.

The re-election of the Algerian President, Abdelaziz Bouteflika, for a fourth term, dominated the media in France this week. The election, held 17 April, 2014, saw the incumbent Bouteflika winning with 82% of the vote. He will therefore begin an extra five-year term.
The newspaper, L’Humanité, under the headline, 'Bouteflika, winner in a disputed election', reported that about 90% of Algerians did not take part in the poll, adding that the rival opponent, Ali Benflis, had alleged “critical irregularities' and “massive fraud' in the polls.

Just months ahead of the Algerian presidential elections, Abdelaziz Bouteflika made key changes to his cabinet on Wednesday (September 11th).
Under the reshuffle announced by President Bouteflika, General Ahmed Gaid Salah will serve as both deputy defence minister and army chief.
Constitutional Council Chairman Tayeb Belaiz replaces Dahou Ould Kablia as interior minister. Ramtane Lamamra is the new foreign minister, while Tayeb Louh swaps his labour ministry position for the justice portfolio.

Former Algerian finance minister Ali Benouari said he wants to "run for president" in his country's 2014 elections, according to an interview with a Swiss daily on Friday.
Speaking from Geneva, his home for the completed 27 years, Benouari told La Tribune de Geneve that he would stand but admitted he had not expected to "announce his candidacy from Switzerland".
The former minister, 62, said he "thought he could infuse modernity into the debate" by running for office.
He added that he expected "free elections".

President Abdelaziz Bouteflika is recovering well in Paris and will return any minute at this time to Algeria, Foreign Minister Mourad Medelci told Radio France Internationale (RFI) on Wednesday.
Bouteflika, 76, was flown to Paris for treatment about three weeks ago following a mini-stroke and speculation has been rife about the national of his health.
French authorities said Tuesday he been transferred from the Val de Grace military hospital in Paris to a new facility “to continue his convalescence” following treatment.
