  • Queensland state government joins fight against Australia's resource tax 2012-07-13

    AUSTRALIA, 2012/07/13 Fortescue Metals Group has gained an ally in its fight against the Australian federal government's minerals resource rent tax, with the Queensland national government on Monday joining the iron ore miner's High Court challenge against the tax. Queensland's attorney general Jarrod Bleijie said the national government was intervening in the implementation of the MRRT, which came into effect on July 1, to protect investment in the coal-rich national. "We are of the biggest resource states in Australia along with Western Australia so it's significant we protect that and do everything we can to protect that as much as we can," he told ABC TV.
