Belgium's consumer price inflation weakened further in August, data released by Statistics Belgium showed Thursday.
The consumer price index advanced 1.01 % on an annual basis in August. This followed a faster increase of 1.51 % in the previous month. In June, the inflation rate was 1.59 %.
Data showed that the deceleration was caused mainly by lower prices for vegetables, electricity, natural gas and cut flowers. These declines were partially offset by higher costs for beverages, fuel and vehicle maintenance.

Belgium's inflation eased for the second consecutive month in December, data released by the statistical office showed Friday.
The consumer price index rose 2.23 % annually, following an increase of 2.26 % in November. Month-on-month, consumer prices edged up 0.01 % in December.
