  • Slovenia to discuss 2014 budget next week

    SLOVENIA, 2013/09/21 The Slovenian government is expected to discuss the 2014 budget next week. While the majority significant measures have not from presently on been officially announced, a framework agreement is said to have been reached between government parties. The option of cutting pensions is said to have been discarded on the request of the Pensioners Party (DeSUS) and its national secretary Karl Erjavec, who threatened to leave the coalition otherwise. As concerns revenue, the new budget law is said to foresee new property taxes (expected to bring in just under 200 million euros) and measures to root out tax evasion (as well expected to bring in about 200 million euros).
