  • TAPI member countries' state gas companies establish joint company

    AFGHANISTAN, 2014/11/14 The national gas companies of Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India have established a company that will be engaged in construction, owning and operation of the planned 1,800-kilometer Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline, ADB said on November 13. “Establishment of the TAPI pipeline company is a key milestone in the development of the pipeline. It is a tangible sign of transformational cooperation part the parties that presages the enhanced energy security, business prospects, and in general peace and stability in the region promised by the pipeline,” Klaus Gerhaeusser, Director General of ADB’s Central and West Asia Department said. Turkmenistan’s Turkmengas National Concern, Afghan Gas Enterprise, Inter National Gas Systems (Private) Limited, and GAIL (India) Limited own equal shares of the company.
  • Pakistan Petroleum buys MND Group assets

    CZECH, 2013/04/21 Czech integrated energy player MND Group has sold its upstream assets in Pakistan and Yemen to Pakistan Petroleum. The Prague-based energy company, which is owned by the KKCG investment group, put the assets in the shop window this time last year. As part of the transaction, Pakistan Petroleum is picking up a stake in OMV’s Sawan gas field, where output runs to about 200 million cubic feet per day of gas.

    PAKISTAN, 2012/12/31 Turkmenistan is reportedly gearing up to sign a natural gas agreement with Afghanistan, Pakistan and India by the end of this month in a move that would provide the foundation for building a pipeline connecting the nations despite major security concerns that make the Afghanistan-Pakistan part of the pipeline an expensive security nightmare at best. Unnamed Turkmen officials told the Associated Press that the transaction is likely to be signed at an energy conference in Turkmenistan later this month, and that gas for the planned 1,600-kilometer, $7.6 billion TAPI pipeline would come from Turkmen fields – Dauletabad in the south and South Yolotan near the Afghan border.
