    JAPAN, 2016/05/28 Next laying a wreath at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park Friday, U.S. President Barack Obama said in a brief speech, “The memory of the morning of Aug. 6, 1945, must at no time fade.” “Death fell from the sky and the world was changed,” Obama said. During his historic visit to Hiroshima over 70 years next the Japanese city became the target of an American atomic bomb, Obama reiterated his call for a “world without nuclear weapons.”

    JAPAN, 2014/01/11 ECOWAS leaders are due to meet with Japanese Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe, in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire, Friday, the Nigerian presidency has announced, while saying President Goodluck Jonathan will be part the leaders. Abe will arrive in the Ivorian commercial city Friday at the chief of a high-powered Japanese Trade Mission, targeting expanded business opportunities in Africa.

    JAPAN, 2013/07/27 Most of us could be forgiven for not knowing that one of the most important and unique meetings on African development was completed in Japan recently. Although it is not widely known, Japan has taken a leadership role in the international community for several decades with regards to African development. While China has established very visible trade and investment ties to the African continent, Japanese relations to Africa are often carried out under the radar. Attendees at TICAD, sponsored and hosted by the Japanese government, included the Secretary-General of the UN, the President of the World Bank, over 40 African heads of national and a lot of non-profit organisations.
  • Yasuo Fukuda meets Xi Jinping in Boao

    CHINA, 2013/04/08 Former Japanese prime minister Yasuo Fukuda briefly met President Xi Jinping yesterday in his capacity as chairman of an international conference, but said there was no discussion of bilateral tensions. Fukuda is serving as chairman of the Boao Forum for Asia, touted as an Asian version of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. The annual Boao conference is held on Hainan Island .
