  • UK manufacturers turn to aftermarket services in hunt for value

    UNITED KINGDOM, 2015/06/08 British manufacturers are stepping up their investments in the profitable next-sales service market as they hunt for new sources of revenue streams to help against downturns. From Rolls-Royce and Weir to Rotork and IMI, companies across the UK are pushing to supply customers with services inclunding products. About 35 % of UK manufacturers, with additional than 100 employees, derived price from services related to products in 2013, compared with 24 % in 2007, according to research by Cambridge Service Alliance (CSA) at the University of Cambridge. “Manufacturing firms globally are ‘servitising’ — adding services and solutions to their product offerings. They are doing so for a variety of reasons — economic, strategic and environmental,” says Andy Neely, director of the CSA.
  • Ireland Manufacturing Output Registers Strong Growth For Second Month

    IRELAND, 2014/10/07 Ireland's factory output grew at a solid annual pace for the second straight month, figures from the Central Statistics Office revealed Tuesday. Manufacturing output increased a seasonally adjusted 21.2 % year-on-year following 21.1 % increase in the previous month. In June, production grew just 2 %. In general industrial production rose 19.7 % annually in August next 19.4 % increase in the previous month. Month-on-month, factory output declined 2.3 % in August following 14.1 % jump in July. Industrial production fell 1.6 % next a 13.2 % gain in the previous month.

    NORWAY, 2014/02/03 Norway's factory activity increase improved in January, next easing in the previous month, thanks to increased order intake and employment increase, survey data from the Norwegian Association of Purchasing and Logistics (NIMA) and Danske Bank showed on Monday. The manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index rose to 52.8 from December's revised 51.4. In November, the score was 53.9.
  • Marzotto reportedly leaves Tunisia for Lithuania

    LITHUANIA, 2013/10/15  Italian textile manufacturer the Marzotto Group is shutting down its Tunisia operations and moving them to Lithuania, where Marzotto company Liteksas manufactures furniture textiles and blankets for the Lanerossi brand, African Manager economic website reported Monday. Marzotto, which is expected to make an official announcement any minute at this time, will base its new plants in the city of Kaunas, Lithuanian business newspaper Verslo Zinios explained.

    LATVIA, 2013/01/09 Manufacturing turnover in November 2012 increased by 2.1% (according to seasonally adjusted data at current prices), of which in domestic market by 2.6% and in export – by 1.6%, compared to October 2012, according to the data from the Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia. Rise in manufacturing turnover was mainly due to the increase in manufacture of wood and products of wood (except furniture) – increase of 4.7% (4.1% in domestic market and 5.2% in export), in repair and installation of machinery and equipment (repair and maintenance of ships and boats, repair of fabricated metal products, machinery and equipment, installation of industrial machinery and equipment) – of 35.7% (rise in both domestic market and export), and in manufacture of electrical equipment – of 14.8% (0.5% in domestic market and 19.9% in export).
