  • Zimbabwe: WMMI Introduces New Business Model

    ZIMBABWE, 2015/01/30 Car assembler Willowvale Mazda Motor Industries (WMMI) has introduced a new business model in an effort to revive its waning fortunes, an official has said. Last year WMMI indicated that it was considering reverting to its original business model of assembling different types of cars on arrangement. Established in 1967, WMMI used to assemble any type of car ranging from Toyota, Mitsubishi, Nissan and Peugeot for various clients on arrangement.
  • S. Africa November Factory Gate Inflation

    SOUTH AFRICA, 2013/11/28 South Africa's factory gate inflation weakened in October, and missed economists' expectations, new data showed Thursday. The manufacturing producer price index increased 6.3 % in October from a year before, following a 6.7 % gain in September. Economists were looking for a 6.4 % gain. The major contributors to the annual increase were food products, beverages and tobacco products, and wood and paper products, data showed.
  • Manufacturers Pessimistic About Next Quarter Performance in Namibia

    NAMIBIA, 2013/08/14 Namibian manufacturers are not overly optimistic on their outlook, a survey of members of the Namibia Manufacturers Association (NMA) released recently has found. The survey for the second quarter of this year shows that sentiments part manufacturers are at their very lowest, with the Sentiment Index declining to -14.89 from the 19.24 recorded at the end of the previous quarter. The Present Situation Index as well declined sharply to -35.24 from 2.65 in the previous quarter.

    SOUTH AFRICA, 2013/02/08 Manufacturing production increased by 2.0 % year on time(y/y) in December next an upwardly revised 3.7 % (3.4 %) year-on-year rise in November‚ data released by Statistics SA on Thursday showed. Manufacturing production for 2012 reflected an increase of 2.0 % compared with a 2.6 % increase in 2011.
