  • Energy projects not affected by tense situation in Turkey

    TURKEY, 2015/09/15 Turkey continues to implement energy projects in the country’s southeast, the Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources told Trend Sept. 14. The ministry said the tense situation in the southeast of Turkey has in no way affected the implementation of energy projects in that region. In particular, this concerns the project for construction of the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP). The TANAP project envisages the transportation of gas of Azerbaijan’s Shah Deniz field from the Georgian-Turkish border to the western borders of Turkey.
  • Turkish Stream pipeline will stretch around 1,100 kilometres to Turkey's border with Greece.

    RUSSIA, 2015/05/09 Russian energy giant Gazprom announced Thursday that its new gas pipeline project Turkish Stream, supplying Russian gas to Turkey, will start operating in December next year. "An agreement has been reached on putting the Turkish Stream into service and starting gas supplies in December 2016," Gazprom chief Alexei Miller was quoted as saying in a company statement next conference Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yildiz in Ankara. The Turkish Stream pipeline unveiled by Russian President Vladimir Putin in December 2014 will stretch around 1,100 kilometres (684 miles) to Turkey's border with Greece, via the Black Sea.
  • Georgian Energy Minister Kakha Kaladze

    GEORGIA, 2013/12/13 A new HPP will be constructed on the Kura river, Georgian Energy Minister Kakha Kaladze told reporters next the conference with his Turkish counterpart Taner Yildiz. "It is a joint project [with Turkey] on Kura river and appropriate groups are working on it", Kaladze said. At the conference he noted the importance of functioning power transmission line connecting Georgia and Turkey. "It is very significant facility, which will strengthen relations between the two nations," Kaladze underscored.
  • GE to invest over US 5 bln wind plant in Turkey

    TURKEY, 2013/11/26 As Turkey continues to be the address for investments for some of the world's major mega companies, General Electric (GE), the biggest maker of wind turbines in the U.S., will be making an over USD 5 billion investment in building a 3,000 megawatt wind power plant. The scope of this investment , as daily Sabah reported, is larger than the current wind energy power plants in operation in all of Turkey. GE plans to establish a wind energy turbine factory in Turkey. The majority critical factor in this agreement consists of the transfer of technology to Turkey.
  • Cyprus hits Turkey with 1 bln euros electricity bill

    CYPRUS, 2013/04/26 The Republic of Cyprus has called on Turkey to pay a 1 billion euros bill on the behalf of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC, recognized only by Ankara), arguing that the Turkish Cypriots had not paid for any electricity bill since they separated in 1963, as daily Hurriyet reports.

    TURKEY, 2012/12/24 Turkish energy minister said on Monday natural gas and electricity prices will not be raised in the coming month. Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz said that they presented a statement on natural gas and electricity prices to Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, adding that there would be no increase in natural gas and electricity prices till February 2013.
