  • Work on Iraq-Jordan pipeline to start end of January

    JORDAN, 2014/01/03 The Iraqi government agreed to build all the projected oil pipeline that will carry oil from southern city of Basra in Iraq to the Port of Aqaba, Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour told lawmakers. According to Ensour, who was speaking at a Lower Home conference, the Iraqi side has the blueprints in place and will start implementation by the end of January. The agreement was reached during the premier's visit last week to Baghdad, heading a delegation comprising several ministers and top officials.
  • Korean consortium to build Jordan's first nuclear reactor

    JORDAN, 2013/08/21 Jordan has named South Korean consortium to construct the kingdom's initial nuclear reactor at a cost of 130 million, officials said today. The reactor will have a capacity of 5-megawatt and will be set up in the northern part of the kingdom, Jordan Atomic Energy Commission said in a statement. Companies taking part in the consortium include Korean Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) and Daewoo.
  • Pipeline to boost Kingdom’s energy flows

    JORDAN, 2013/06/12 A double pipeline that will channel oil to Jordan from Iraq is expected to play a key role in the Kingdom’s efforts to diversify and strengthen its energy sources. An agreement signed between the two nations on April 15th has paved the way for construction work on the $18bn project to begin, with Iraqi officials estimating that the pipeline should be operational by 2017. The 1680-km link will connect the Iraqi city of Basra with the Jordanian port city of Aqaba. Once completed, it will pump 1m bpd of oil and 258m cu feet (mcf) of natural gas each day from Iraq to Jordan.
