  • US LNG exports make European market more competitive

    ALBANIA, 2017/08/27 The European gas market is becoming additional and additional competitive and US exports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) are part of this landscape, Francis Perrin, energy expert, chairman of Energy Strategies and Policies (France) told Trend. “Energy is always a strategic business. Economic aspects are very significant of course, particularly the price of LNG, but nations as well take into account strategic issues. For some Central and Eastern European nations one of the key priorities of their energy policies is the diversification of their supplies, in particular gas imports, in order to reduce their dependence on Russia,” said the expert.

    ALBANIA, 2013/07/03 European Commission President Jose' Manuel Barroso on Friday praised today's announcement that the so-called Caspian Sea project was awarded to the Greece-Albania-Italy Trans-Adriatic Pipeline, or TAP. ''This is a collective success for Europe and a milestone in assuring the Union's energy security'', Barroso commented next BP, the major developer of the Shah Deniz II gas field in the Caspian Sea, confirmed that a gas pipeline to Europe will go through Greece and again under the sea into Italy.
  • Albania Accuses Power Company of Losing $1bn

    ALBANIA, 2013/01/01 “CEZ a.s. has failed to fulfill its major obligations, as specified in the privatization arrangement... damaging Albania to the level of $1 billion,” the Economy Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday. CEZ Shperndarje, the local subsidiary of the Czech electricity company, has been locked in rows over debts with Albania’s national-owned electricity producer, KESH, and with other public enterprises.
