The richest 1 % are likely to control additional than half of the globe’s total wealth by next year, the charity Oxfam reported in a study released on Monday. The warning about deepening world inequality comes just as the world’s business elite prepare to meet this week at the annual World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
The 80 wealthiest people in the world all own $1.9 trillion, the statement found, nearly the same all shared by the 3.5 billion people who occupy the bottom half of the world’s gain scale. (Last year, it took 85 billionaires to equal that figure.) And the richest 1 % of the people, who number in the millions, control nearly half of the world’s total wealth, a share that is as well increasing.

Romanian's opposed to shale gas development took to the streets of Barlad in the north-east of the country on Sunday.
Additional than 3,500 people were reported to have gathered to turmoil shale gas drilling plan by Chevron Romania, which intends to start the shale gas drilling process in Barlad by the second half of this year.
"A lot of protesters took to the streets today not only because of environmental concerns but because they feel they have been betrayed", sociologist Mircea Kivu told AFP. Prime Minister Victor Ponta, who took office in May 2012, had opposed shale gas development at the same time as his party was in opposition.

The 300 richest Romanians lost around 3 billion euro of their cumulative wealth in 2012, as the economic crisis affected their businesses, Forbes Romania announced on Monday.
Forbes Romania inventory says that the total wealth of the richest Romanians amounts to some 26.5 billion euro, a drop of around 9 % on last year’s estimations.
