Haiti and the United Nations have vowed to continue with efforts aimed at eliminating Cholera from the French-speaking Caribbean country as reports from the initial months of 2014 reflect the lowest number of cases and cholera-related deaths since the beginning of the epidemic.
The UN said that a high-level committee for the elimination of cholera in Haiti was held on Wednesday and Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe said that the government’s activities and those of the UN and other partners to combat cholera are “bearing fruit”.
According to the new figures from April, “concerted Haitian and international efforts have succeeded in significantly reducing the toll of the epidemic,” the UN said.
