  • UNWTO: International tourism – strongest half-year results since 2010

    AFGHANISTAN, 2017/09/09 Destinations worldwide welcomed 598 million international tourists in the initial six months of 2017, some 36 million additional than in the same period of 2016. At 6%, increase was well above the trend of recent years, making the current January-June period the strongest half-year since 2010. Visitor numbers reported by destinations around the world reflect strong request for international travel in the initial half of 2017, according to the new UNWTO World Tourism Barometer. Worldwide, international tourist arrivals (overnight visitors) increased by 6% compared to the same six-month period last year, well above the sustained and consistent trend of 4% or higher increase since 2010. This represents the strongest half-year in seven years.

Minister and her delegation will as well attend the UNWTO Seminar on Public-Private Partnerships, “Tangible and Intangible Heritage and Innovative Tourism Products,” in collaboration with the UNESCO World Heritage Cities of Spain. The Executive Council is UNWTO's governing board, responsible for ensuring that the ‎organization carries out its work and adheres to its budget. It meets at least twice a year and is ‎composed of members elected by the General Assembly in a ratio of one for each ‎five Full Members.

    SPAIN, 2013/05/28 Spending by foreign tourists in Spain in the prime four months of the year totalled 13,337 billion euros, up 7,5% from the same period in 2012, according to data released on Monday by the Spanish industry, energy and tourism ministry.  The average daily spending from January to April went up 6,3% to reach 110 euros, compared to April 2012 while the average expense per tourist grew 4,8% to reach 951 euros.
