A change in the loan structure to Costa Rica’s ambitious Reventazón Hydroelectric Dam will allow more legroom for repayment.
COSTA RICA, 2012/12/28 The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), which approved $670 million in loans to finance the Reventazón Hydroelectric Dam in June, will presently add an extra $200 million in guaranteed financing to help support Central America’s major renewable energy project. -

One of Laura Chinchilla’s most important projects of 2012, a 160-kilometer border road named Route 1856, was supposed to defend Costa Rica against a potential Nicaraguan invasion after soldiers from that country caused an international scandal by occupying a piece of swampland in northeastern Costa Rica.
