  • Consortium from Spain signs agreement to build 20 projects in Guinea-Bissau

    SPAIN, 2015/11/22 Spanish consortium “Ribert Investment & Business Trust/Indico PLC” will soon start construction of 801 low-cost houses in a suburb of Bissau, the capital of Guinea-Bissau, announced Roberto Mondejar, head of the business group. The construction of social housing is one of 20 projects that the consortium intends to run in Guinea-Bissau, under an agreement signed between the Government of Guinea-Bissau and Roberto Mondejar, who heads the group of Spanish businessmen who on Wednesday began a four-day visit to the country.
  • TAP starts construction of access roads, bridges in Albania

    ALBANIA, 2015/07/09 The Trans Adriatic Pipeline AG has today announced the start of construction and rehabilitation work on access roads and bridges along the pipeline’s route in Albania. The occasion was marked by an inauguration ceremony near the town of Çorovoda, attended by the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, Minister of Energy and Industry Damian Gjiknuri, and TAP Managing Director Ian Bradshaw. Speaking to an audience that included foreign diplomats, members of the Albanian parliament, representatives of local authorities and other key stakeholders, Prime Minister Rama and Minister Gjiknuri emphasised the importance of the project to Albania.
  • Graft and Grey Economy Hindering Balkan Business, EBRD

    ALBANIA, 2015/05/04 The EBRD's business environment in the transition region survey, BEEPS, interviewed some 15,000 business leaders in 24 nations during 2013 shows that in Albania, electricity shortages, unfair competition from the informal sector and corruption are seen as the major obstacles to business. About 40 % of the firms surveyed reported having to compete against firms in the informal sector. Corruption, particularly over construction permits is an extra major concern in Albania, the survey said. “Although relatively few firms applied for construction-related permits, almost one-third of the firms that did said that an informal gift or payment was expected or requested during the application process,” EBRD noted in the statement.
  • Azerbaijan starts constructing resort in Montenegro

    AZERBAIJAN, 2014/03/08 Baku and Podgorica have started a joint project to construct a resort on the shores of the Bay of Kotor in Montenegro, the Reuters agency reported on March 6. Azerbaijan's national energy company SOCAR and "Azmont Investments" company, the developer of the 500 million euros project, are going to build a modern resort and hotel complex on the place of an abandoned navy base. The complex will include a network of resort "One & Only", known for its orientation towards affluent customers.
  • First phase of building IT Park in Indjija completed

    SERBIA, 2013/11/21 The initial phase of construction of the Embassy Techzones IT Park, a EUR 10 million investment for Indian real estate developer Embassy Group spanning an area of 10,000 square meters in Indjija, northern Serbia, was completed on Thursday. A celebration to mark the end of the initial construction stage was attended by Serbian Foreign Minister Ivan Mrkic and Minister of National for External Affairs of India Preneet Kaur. “ Building the IT Park is an significant moment for the development of the local data technology capacity and it lays the foundation for Serbia’s regional role in this sector,” Mrkic said.

  • Chinese company to build motorway section

    CHINA, 2013/05/13 The Serbian government and Chinese company Shandong Hi-Speed Group have signed an agreement on construction of a 50 km-long section of the motorway stretching through Western Serbia amounting to USD 334 million. The arrangement, which was signed by Minister of Constriction and Urban Planning Velimir Ilic, Director of public company Koridori Srbije Dmitar Djurovic and Deputy General Manager of the Chinese company Shandong Hi-Speed Group Zhu Wei on Friday, involves Ljig-Lajkovac-Ub-Obrenovac section totaling 5 kilometers and 230 meters with construction deadline of 37 months.

  • Bosnia Signs Deal on Highway Construction

    BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA, 2013/01/07 The director of the Federation entity's highways company, Ensar Karic, and the director of the Cengiz Insaat company, Kemal Unluer, have signed an agreement for the Turkish company to build 10 kilometres of highway from Vlakovo to Lepenica, which is on the way from Sarajevo to Mostar. The agreement is worth around 350 million KM [180 million euro], Karic said.
