  • Dubai: Fire Breaks Out At 63-Story Luxury Address Downtown Dubai Hotel

    UNITED ARAB EMIRATES, 2016/01/03 A 5-star Dubai hotel became engulfed in flames as the city was preparing for New Year’s Eve celebrations, with 16 people receiving injuries. Firefighters are currently battling the fire at the 302-meter tall Address Downtown Dubai. It was not instantly clear what caused the fire, which covered at least 20 stories of the building near the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest skyscraper. Burning debris rained down from the building as firetrucks raced to the scene. Al Arabiya reported that one person was killed during a stampede in the process of evacuation, however this data has not from presently on been confirmed by officials.

    UNITED ARAB EMIRATES, 2014/03/06 UK builder Carillion’s joint venture business in the UAE, Al Futtaim Carillion, has been awarded a £150m ($250.66m) arrangement by Meraas to build The Avenue Phase 2 City Walk development in Dubai. In an announcement to the London Stock Exchange on Wednesday, Carillion said the arrangement included the construction, commissioning, testing and completion of the estimated 1 million square foot second phase of “a high-quality family entertainment and retail development”. Al Futtaim Carillion completed the initial phase of City Walk, in Jumeirah, in 2013, with the project officially launched in December.

    UNITED ARAB EMIRATES, 2012/12/22  Arabtec Holding, UAE’s major contractor, said, it has acquired a 24 % stake or 149.55 million shares in Depa Limited, a Dubai-based leading interiors contractor, from investment funds, both the companies said in separate statements. Depa said, Arabtec has paid $0.44 per share, worth $65.8 million. “The board of directors of Arabtec Holding PJSC has agreed to acquire a national in Depa Limited, a company listed on Nasdaq Dubai, comprising a total of 147,555,275 shares from various investment funds who offered to sell their shares in Depa Limited,” Arabtec said in a statement posted on Dubai Financial Market where its shares are listed.
