  • Africans View China’s Presence on the Continent as Positive

    CHINA, 2016/11/04 The majority of Africans are in favor of Chinese development on the continent, according to a new statement titled “China’s Growing Presence in Africa Wins Largely Positive Popular Reviews” by the Afrobarometer Research Network. “Almost two-thirds or 63 % of Africans say China’s influence in the continent is “somewhat” or “very” positive, while only 15 % see it as somewhat or very negative,” the statement states. Trade between Africa and China has increased from $10 billion in 2000 to $220 billion in 2014. In 2000, China established the Forum on China-Africa Co-operation to drive its strategic engagement with sub-Saharan Africa. Since again, the communist country has been the go-to world economic resource for African nations in need of products and services ranging from infrastructure and telecommunication development, to food outlets, retail shops, and textiles.
  • President Denis Sassou N'Guesso has hailed China's pledge to support Africa's development.

    CHINA, 2015/12/08 Republic of Congo's President Denis Sassou N'Guesso has hailed China's pledge to support Africa's development. The president was speaking to media over the weekend in Brazzaville next coming back from the Johannesburg Summit of Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) which he termed as historic. "In recent years, we have seen that China is on the ground, providing massive support to development efforts in African nations. There are statistics to prove this, the projects are visible, from one country to an extra," Sassou N'Guesso said, adding the Brazzaville airport was constructed through Chinese support.
  • China, Republic of Congo Issue Joint Communique to Boost Ties

    CHINA, 2013/04/05 China and the Republic of the Congo issued on Saturday a joint communique on the agreements reached by the two nations' presidents, inclunding their common desire to promote bilateral ties and expand cooperation someday. "The two heads of national acknowledge to build, on the basis of traditional friendship between the two sides, a China-Republic of the Congo comprehensive cooperative partnership of solidarity and mutual assistance," said the communique issued next Friday's conference between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Denis Sassou Nguesso, the president of the Republic of the Congo.
