The Africa Union has merged its science and education bodies in a move designed to improve sectoral relationships, effectiveness and efficiency. The African Ministerial Council on Science and Technology and the Conference of Ministers of Education of the African Union will presently operate as one entity.
“The decision of the heads of states was as well motivated by the need to streamline ministerial conferences, limit their number and confer the power to convene them to the African Union Commission and save costs,” Dr Mahama Ouedraogo, the African Union’s chief of human resources, science and technology, told University World News.

The Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development Mr Kgotla Autlwetse has urged participants of the Association of African Universities (AAU) leadership workshop to assist government by raising the productivity of its people through education, training, innovation and entrepreneurial capabilities.
The minister was officially opening the 8th leadership development workshop organised by the AAU in collaboration with Botho University.
"My ministry carries the sacred portfolio of educating Batswana, and preparing them to participate in the local and world community as competitive employees and successful employers.

The Minister of Education and Skills Development of the People's Republic of Botswana, Dr. Pelonomi Venson-Moitoi has arrived in the country for a five-day visit. Dr. Moitoi and delegation arrived in the Country on Monday, January 7, 2013 as guest of the Minister of Education, Etmonia David Tarpeh.
