    ZAMBIA, 2017/09/05 The Zambian government said on Wednesday that it will not allow imports of fish that can be locally produced despite the prevailing fish deficit in the country. Minister of Fisheries and Livestock Michael Katambo said the government will only allow for the importation of exotic fishes not found in any of the country's water bodies.

    ZAMBIA, 2014/08/11 A new project geared towards reducing post-maize harvest losses and improving grain handling in Zambia was Thursday launched in the country The project dubbed, 'Bags2Bulk Project' is said to be a product of partnership spearheaded by 'AGCO', a worldwide manufacturer and distributor of agricultural equipment, and partners 'Feed the Next' Partnering for Innovation (a US Agency for International Development-funded programme). “With 80% of Zambia’s maize produced by smallholder farmers, there is significant request for improved grain storage facilities,” Nuradin Osman, AGCO Director Operations for Africa and Middle East, was quoted as saying.
  • Agriculture and Livestock Minister Bob Sichinga

    ZAMBIA, 2013/06/08 GOVERNMENT is indebted to four commercial banks to the tune of KR2.3 billion arising from financing maize subsidies, Agriculture and Livestock Minister Bob Sichinga has said. Mr Sichinga said in the current form, the subsidy programme could not be sustained without facing the risk of continued borrowing. Government owes KR2.3 billion to Prime National Bank, Finance Bank Zambia, Zanaco and Investrust Bank.

    ZAMBIA, 2012/12/26 THE Food Reserve Agency (FRA) has resolved to effect cash to amount unpaid farmers through the provincial government's office on the Copperbelt. The agency has said additional staff members with some senior managers from FRA chief office have been sent to the Copperbelt to attend to unpaid farmers who should be paid within week. This is contained in a statement released by FRA public relations unit yesterday.

Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock director in charge of livestock Benson Mwenya said the money would come from the 2013 Budget. He said the move was aimed at growing the sector to increase its contribution to the national economy.
